Sensation and awareness in the soma, the body, are used as exploration and communication in somatic -based therapies. This includes what is experienced, what is perceived, and what is felt. The body holds emotions, pain, and fear, and body-oriented work can access the deeper regions of the brain where these feelings are held. Somatic work can get your system out of distress, while promoting a profound sense of healing and strength. Practitioners in our office are trained in Somatic Experiencing, mindfulness, touch work, creative movement, (any others?), modalities especially effective in the treatment of trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, and pain.
